This book allows us to think of our identity in a different and more expanded way. Rabbi Kagan has a very special gift of breaking down very esoteric ideas to a broad audience. I guarantee you will confront ideas in this book you haven’t been exposed to before.

As was Rabbi J. Kagan’s THE JEWISH SELF, this book, THE CHOICE TO BE, is challenging, enlightening and rewarding. Rabbi Kagan ‘s book is saturated with insights on Torah Judaism that one would not normally come upon; of course each new idea is thoroughly backed by the Commentaries in his myriad footnotes. THE CHOICE TO BE is on the top of my list, right along with the Ramchal’s works. That’s how much I like it and Rabbi Kagan’s earlier THE JEWISH SELF. i recommend this book to any Jew bent on plumbing the depths of Torah.
