Description

A remarkable synthesis of personal memoir and Torah wisdom, this book shares the journey of Michal Horowitz, renowned educator and speaker, who navigates life with severe hearing loss. With deep Torah insights, she explores how we should view and interact with individuals with disabilities, offering her personal perspective that is both enlightening and transformative.

This is more than just one person’s story. It is the story of so many—perhaps even your story, or that of a family member, a close friend, or someone in your community. Both personal and universal, this heartwarming book invites readers to reflect, connect, and grow.

“Mrs. Horowitz’s knowledge in Chazal and in many other sefarim ha’kedoshim is enormous… Rabbis, teachers, morahs, and balabatim will find this sefer of great use.”

Rav Yaakov Bender

“Mrs. Horowitz reminds us…no matter what our external circumstances…we can choose to be bitter or choose to be grateful.”

Rav Yitzchak A. Breitowitz

“I found it eye- and mind-opening.”

Rav Zev Leff

About the author:

Michal Horowitz grew up in Toronto, Canada. After graduating Bais Yaakov High School, she studied at Michlalah in Jerusalem during her seminary year. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Audiology from combined studies at York University, Toronto, and Brooklyn College, NY. During her studies at Brooklyn College, she was awarded with the Golden Key National Honour Society award for academic excellence.

It was during her college years, when she was twenty-four years old, that she was fitted with bilateral hearing aids for a post-lingual severe hearing loss. When her life took on unexpected twists and turns, in search of deeper purpose and meaning to life, she began learning Torah more in depth. Michal presented her first Torah lecture in December 2010 to a small group in her neighborhood, and with God’s help, has never looked back.

Michal teaches numerous weekly Torah classes to adults of all ages, both in person and on Zoom, and she guest lectures in schools and communities across the US and around the world. Michal’s writings have been published online and in various publications. Her shiurim can be found on multiple websites, including YUTorah.org and OUTorah.org. She has been featured on numerous podcasts, such as Headlines, America’s Top Rebbetzins, DMC, and Rolling With the Punches.

Michal is passionate about sharing the beauty of Torah, in the hope of inspiring others to live meaningful, committed, and purposeful lives. Michal lives in Woodmere, NY with her family, who continue to be her greatest source of inspiration.
