About the author:

Roy S. Neuberger grew up in the affluent and assimilated world of the Upper East Side of Manhattan in a home devoid of Torah and mitzvos. From childhood he felt the overwhelming spiritual emptiness and searched for a way to fill the vacuum. In high school, he met his future wife, Linda (now Leah). They began to search together. After eleven years of marriage and the birth of two children, when they had seemingly exhausted their spiritual search, they met Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis—one of the pioneers of the kiruv movement—in Newburgh, New York, near their Hudson Valley home. After attending her Chumash classes for several months, they accompanied her on a trip to Israel, where they experienced their first Shabbos and Roy was given a pair of tefillin, something that they had never seen before. After returning from Israel, they sold their upstate home and business and moved to the Long Island community where the rebbetzin’s husband was the rav. Thus began their new life as observant Jews. Their home became the “Shabbos address” for the rebbetzin’s many followers. In the year 2000, Roy’s first book was published, From Central Park to Sinai: How I Found My Jewish Soul. Roy and Leah then began a speaking tour, which encompassed hundreds of lectures in fifteen countries. Five more books followed, plus a biography of Roy and Leah, written by Rabbi Nachman Seltzer. They now reside in Yerushalayim. Their children live in the U.S. and Israel.
