This is an excellent commentary that I highly recommend. It is thorough and helpful, and is another commentary of high quality from Artscroll. I have many books from Artscroll, and this is a wonderful addition to their library. I recommend this commentary to anyone who wants to have a commentary on the Torah that is similar in quality to commentaries by Rambam. Ramban, Leibowitz, Hirsch, Hertz, etc.

Rabbi Chaim ibn Attar was Born in 1696, in Morocco, and was a/k/a/ the Or ha-Ḥachyim after his popular commentary on the Torah. He is arguably considered to be one of the most prominent Rabbis in Morocco and is highly regarded in Hassidic Judaism. After reading many Artscroll commentaries, I really enjoy the Or Hachaims approach to explaining the Torah. He approaches with many questions that come to my mind as well and he often gives several explanations or understanding of certain events or phrases in the Torah. His multi-layered commentary speaks to me and puts my mind at ease with certain concepts that may trouble me. I have to re-read some of his pages over and over to keep track of his various explanations. Not an easy read. I Recommend this commentary for more serious learners or students.
