Tribulations of a young Jewish student during the War
This book was recommended to me, and I can’t remember when I last read such a humbling story. I am very familiar with Russian history of this period, I am also Jewish, and before I started reading I was a bit apprehensive, wondering how true to the facts of the time this story was. I read every page, and after my first reading session, I realized that I was going to be sorry when I got to the last page. A true heartfelt story of a young boy caught up in WW II, in Eastern Poland. The story starts in Poland, and we follow Chaim in his struggle to survive alone in Lithuania, and the USSR. The author is not afraid to retell his thoughts , his uncertainties, and his braveness shines through every page. The book describes the life of a young religous boy during these terrible times, and how he kept his integrity, and remained true to his family and religion. A truly great book, and a lesson for us all no matter what religion we are I had the book sent to my sister in the UK to save postage, and she decided to look at it and see what I had bought, and she kept it until she read it. At first I didn’t understand why she kept the book, but after having started it myself to read it myself. I understood
