This is a beautifully-constructed, concise work by Aryeh Kaplan (1934-1983) who takes Jews step-wise into Judaism, beginning with its backbone tenets. It’s a moving, wonderful source of knowledge and inspiration. From the Handbook of Jewish Thought, by Aryeh Kaplan, Copyright 1979, Maznaim Publishing Corporation, pgs 1 and 121:1.1 The foundation of Judaism…is the realization that existence is purposeful, and that man has a purpose in life.1.2 Both man and nature have meaning because they were created by a purposeful Being. It is this Being that we call God…….7:1 The Torah is the foundation of Judaism. Without it, Judaism cannot exist.Okay. You may know these things (not all of us do, guaranteed), but fear not. It becomes as deep as the ocean. If a. you’re Jewish; b., don’t know much about Judaism; and c. are curious, you’ll benefit from this book. Moreover, you’ll fall in love with what is yours.

Haven’t read it yet, but I’m anticipating growing spiritually after learning from the teachings of this great man.

This is an invaluable learning tool. Its reference value has no equal. Volume 1 & 2 should be in every Jewish readers library. Even though I am not Jewish, I have great respect and appreciation for all of the works Rabbi Kaplan wrote. His book :”INNER SPACE” is the best book I have read about Kabbalah, and I have read a lot of them. .

I loved this book. BUT, I knew I was getting an Orthodox perspective. It is thought provoking and inspiring. The information is given in small easily readably chinks.
