“Did I say it’s not hard?”

“This is how it is in the beginning, and then it gets better? Is that what the doctor said?” Yankel tries to understand.

“We did.” Malka nods at her husband, smiling. “Besuros tovos, Sheiny.”
“Amen,” Sheiny whispers to the closed door, and stands at a distance, observing the gorgeous family behind the window.
She whispers “Amen” to one brachah, that comes out a little choppy.
And another “Amen” to the miracles bayamim haheim bazman hazeh.
And five ready-made wicks burst into flame, one after the next.
