I have been wanting a translation like this for a while. I am new (have glanced at it before) to this translation. I am a Christian. I have a bachelors degree in Bible Theology. But I felt like I was missing something. I started looking into my Interlinear Hebrew-English Bible but things that I needed better understanding i was missing out.Exactly today it has been a week since I got it and started reading. Like I have said. It has given me new joy to read this bible. I look forward to reading it. I am at Exodus 15. As I read I can imagine their journey.Anyways. I had ordered by mistake the pocket size. I am 60 yrs old. And the font was too small. I was able to return and ordered the student edition. It’s beautiful. Solid hard covers. Pages are too thin and do get stuck together. Also too thin so you need to be careful in turning the pages because they will tear (I almost did that).Translation is what I needed. Commentaries are good. Some don’t explain well enough but give an opinion.Over all I recommend.

This is a well crafted volume designed for a lifetime of use. It is written in modern English while providing the original Hebrew on opposing pages. Any Biblical scholar should have a volume like this in his library if only for the eloquence of the translation.

B”H– the greatest version of Tanakh out there (in English!) is this fantastic Artscroll classic. The cover is quite striking. The black with gold lettering is so lovely & the text of the English rendering of the scripture is also very beautiful. The Hebrew is crisp & clean. The print is not small, the book itself is a perfect size for a comfortable read. Some more knowledgeable students of Tanakh may complain about certain choices Artscroll made concerning the translation to English. “Shir Hashirim” for example is not the literal translation, but Rashi’s allegorical rendering instead. But for a newer student of scripture, and especially for B’nai Noach, the translation is perfect. Noachides are not to delve too deep into the study of Torah & so this Artscroll translation sufficiently teaches us what Hashem Yitbarach spoke to Moshe & revealed to the other prophets & kings. There is a good amount of commentary to elucidate the verses, but for a more deep study, I recommend buying each individual book. The book comes shrinkwrapped & arrived in perfect condition, so I have no complaints at all. The price is great too, a bit cheaper than buying direct from Artscroll.

The Artscroll Tanakh is a great source of studying the G-D’s Word as handed down from Hashem to the prophets. Thank you for making the Artscroll Tanakh available…There is no ratings for the Word if God.

After years of uncertainty about the accuracy of my Bibles (King James and New International Version), I have decided to get a Jewish one. 99% of the Old Testament were written in Old Hebrew, and while the language has evolved, I hope a Jewish translation would be more accurate than a Gentile one, given Hebrew is their native tongue.I am not a scholar and don’t care to verify my Tanach against original scrolls – if I can find or understand them – and so I hope I have made the right decision in my quest for an accurate, fundamentalist Bible. The Jewish reviewers here seem content with the quality of translation and so I’ll have to take their word for it. The best thing would be to learn Hebrew, but given how few people speak it, I would be better off learning Chinese. The editor admits the authors eschewed transliteration to gain a more fluent English translation. I will consult the Christian Bible for New Testament scripture. The layout and big typeface make it easy on the eyes. It includes commentaries and other aids like maps, family trees and so forth, and is written in modern English. No more ‘thee,’ ‘thou,’ ‘art,’ or ‘ye.’ The pages turn left to right which induces a sense of authenticity for this Gentile.Amen!
